Dan McElrea is the CEO of Puku Ltd, a specialist connection company which has been attempting to get its solution to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico adopted by BP. Puku specialises in mechanical connectors, particularly those based on helixes, and owns a significant portfolio of patents and "know how". Dan came to the Cambridge-based company after extensive experience in business and IT consulting to a range of industries in New Zealand and Europe.

Richard S. "Kinky" Friedman is an American singer, songwriter, novelist, humorist, politician and former columnist for Texas Monthly. He was one of two independent candidates in the 2006 election for the office of Governor of Texas, and is about to embark on a musi tour in the US, and plans to visit New Zealand later this year on a musical venture with Billy Joe Shaver and Billy Bob Thornton.

Mary Kisler is the Mackelvie Curator of International Art at the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki. 10:10 Playing Favourites with David Kilgour

David Kilgour formed seminal Dunedin band The Clean in the late 1970s with his brother Hamish and Peter Gutteridge. The Clean (now the Kilgours and Robert Scott) continue to tour the world and last year released a new album, Mister Pop (Arch Hill Records). As well as contributing to recordings by The Clean, David has released six solo albums, with a new album to be released later this year. Instrumental versions of tracks from his 2009 collaboration with poet Sam Hunt, Falling Debris, comprise the soundtrack for the documentary Sam Hunt: Purple Balloon and Other Stories, which will screen at this year's New Zealand International Film Festivals in Auckland (25 July), Wellington (29, 30 July) and other centres.

New Zealand artist Robyn Hughes has lectured and exhibited internationally, and for the last 17 years has been teaching art to inmates at Auckland Prison. She is the recipient of the Big 'A' Prison Arts Leadership Award 2010 to be presented in the Grand Hall of Parliament on 21 July.

Kate De Goldi is the recipient of the Creative New Zealand Michael King Writers' Fellowship. She will discuss the work of Gary D. Schmidt, American children's writer of nonfiction books and young adult novels, including two Newbery Honor books. His most recent books are Trouble (Clarion, 2008, ISBN: 978-0-618-92766-1) and The Wednesday Wars (Sandpiper, 2007, ISBN: 978-0-547-23760-2).
