Carla Russell was appointed as executive director of the Affordable Art Show in 2005. The event, now in its eighth year and renamed the New Zealand Art Show, is the biggest art show in the country. It will feature around 3000 works by 475 artists, at the TSB Bank Arena in Wellington from 29-31 July.

Auckland filmmaker Florian Habicht has made a number of critically acclaimed films including Kaikohe Demolition (2004) and Land of the Long White Cloud (2009). His new documentary fiction film, Love Story, was shot in New York in late 2009, when Habicht was resident there for the Arts Foundation’s Harriet Friedlander Residency. Love Story will have its world premiere at this year’s New Zealand International Film Festival.

Historian and poet Dr Jeffrey Paparoa Holman is a senior adjunct fellow in the School of Humanities at the University of Canterbury, and has worked as a sheep-shearer, postman, and psychiatric social worker, and published a number of volumes of poetry, most recently Fly Boy (Steele Roberts, IBSN: 978-1877577-12-3). Dr Holman is currently pursuing two projects as Waikato University's 2011 writer in residence: Shaken Down 6:3, a collection of poetry emerging from the ruins of Christchurch post-earthquakes; and The Lost Pilot, a memoir about his father, for which he travelled to Japan to research kamikaze pilots.
