Richard Meros came to attention with the 2005 satirical book On the Conditions and Possibilities of Helen Clark Taking Me as Her Young Lover (Lawrence & Gibson, ISBN: 978-0-473-10248-1), later adapted into a successful play. His book, Richard Meros Salutes the Southern Man (Lawrence & Gibson, ISBN: 978-0-473-12429-8) has just been republished with an introduction by Duncan Sarkies. It is now also a play, and will open at Downstage on 22 November (to 1 December). Meros also has a new novel, Easy Whistle Solo (Lawrence & Gibson, ISBN: 978-0-473-21922-2), and a compendium, $30 Meat Pack: The Complete Written Correspondence between Richard Meros and Creative New Zealand Vol Two (Lawrence & Gibson, ISBN: 978-0-473-22900-9). His 2011 election year treatise, Privatising Parts, will tour New Zealand and Australia in 2013.

The Reverend Kim Dong-Sung is the Asian head of the World Council of Churches, and is taking part in a world-wide conversation on developing a just global economic system. He visited Christchurch recently as a guest of the Christian World Service.
