Barbara Anderson : a life in words

Barbara Anderson, Lady Anderson (14 April 1926 – 24 March 2013) was a New Zealand fiction writer who became internationally recognized despite only starting her writing career in her late fifties.  While her writing featured in journals, on radio broadcasts and in magazines, her first published collection wasn’t released until 1989,  Her memoir 'Getting There: An Autobiography' was published in 2008. She wrote numerous novels and short story collections, and many publications have been reprinted due to popular demand.  Barbara Anderson died last weekend aged 86 after a short illness. The interview with Kim hill was recorded in November 2008, at the time she published her memoir.
