Sunday, 1 November 2009: Jo's Lovely Bones

Lovely Bones

During the day, Dr Joanne Drayton is Associate Professor of Visual arts at Auckland's Unitech. She's also written three biographies of New Zealand women artists, and latterly one on crime writer, and painter, Ngaio Marsh. At night, safe in her own home, Jo likes to carve bones fresh from the butcher. Her partner picks one up for her in Ponsonby most Mondays. Jo's just started on a chess set with a New Zealand twist. David Steemson spends an evening with Joanne Drayton and her lovely bones as she boils, bleaches, scrapes and carves.
