PANGO/BLACK

From Standing Room Only, 2:55 pm on 4 December 2016

Traditional Maori creation stories begin with Te Kore, the concept of nothingness and that's what is being explored in  PANGO/BLACK - the latest work from Atimara Dance Company. It's about to be performed in New Zealand for the first time - but Taiwanese dance lovers have already seen it. Atamira's artistic director Moss Patterson worked closely with the dancers to create the company's new work. The soundscape brings together former Straitjacket Fits frontman Shayne Carter on guitar, and James Webster on traditional Maori instruments, backed by an electronic score by Peter Hobbs.
