Cat and Dog watch Human crash around with the vacuum cleaner getting ready for his aunt Muriel to visit. They decide to help make her welcome. Dog gets himself all wet and rolls in mud so he can shake himself all over her, and Cat puts a row of dead mice beside the cleaner. Aunt Muriel is very upset and has to be taken home, so Human can go happily to his football game.

Janice Marriott is a writer of fiction and non-fiction for adult and child readers.

janice marriotIn 1994 she was the inaugural writer-in-residence at the Auckland College of Education. She won the 1996 Aim Supreme Award and Senior Fiction Award, and in 2007 she won the Junior Fiction Category of the New Zealand Post Book Awards for Children and Young Adults.
