8:12 Insight: Is it time to legalise cannabis use?
Sometime during 2012, about half a million New Zealanders will smoke cannabis, eat it, inhale its vapours, drink it as a tea or use it as a compress.  United Nations figures show this country has among the highest rates of cannabis use in the world. Does that mean the law prohibiting its use is not working?  And if so, what should replace it?

8:40 Judy McGregor – Getting Angry
EEO Commissioner Dr Judy McGregor speaks publicly for the first time about a new Human Rights Commission report, Caring Counts: It’s time to value our aged care workforce. Judy talks about her experience in preparing the report and her anger at both the level of exploitation of the workers who care for the elderly, and the way that reflects how our society values its old people. The report includes a timetable for change and Judy talks to Chris about what needs to happen to reform the aged care sector.

Also – anguish over extraordinary comments from an unusual political donor, more revelations about controversial taxpayer-funded reality TV, and how New Zealand’s oldest radio host has been foiled by a pair of pensioners in northern England.

In our occasional series of New Zealanders living and working overseas, Chris talks to Lucy Tupu, an industrial designer specialising in furniture and lighting. Of Samoan and Pakeha heritage, Lucy grew up in Wellington and now lives in New York with her husband and two young children.

Between 1960 and 1990, strong winds of political change swept across Pacific countries. Broadcaster Ian Johnstone has captured this change in a series of interviews with Pacific leaders which he presents with his co-editor Michael Powles in a series called New Flags Flying. Sunday Morning features highlights from the series on the last Sunday of each month during 2012. This week, Dr Kabini Sanga, a Solomon Islander and associate professor at Victoria University, joins Ian, Michael and Chris to discuss the past, present and future of the Solomon Islands and the Cook Islands.
