The challenge has been laid down

Police Superintendent Wally Haumaha tells Rosemary Rangitauira that an iwi-police strategy, Turning of the Tide, the joint scheme, launched in December last year, aims to cut the Māori prosecution rate by 2018.

Wero challenge is a three month long nationwide, quit smoking competition launched in early September. Dr Marewa Glover is a director at the Centre for Tobacco Control Research and has dedicated almost 20 years to tobacco cessation and research. Dr Glover talks with Justine Murray about how the challenge works.

Taking part in the Wero challenge is a group of women from Lower Hutt who call themselves, Ow Babes. Justine Murray finds out how it’s all going with members Leiticia Keepa and Stevie Love, and talks to  Keitha Wood who describes herself as a former chain smoker but since quitting a year ago has become an aukati kai paipa coach.
