A Wairapapa sub-tribe wants to study the carvings of an ancient argillite adze found in May at Lake Onoke so it can trace where it's come from. Three north Taranaki hapu plan to occupy two sites in Waitara for the unforeseeable future because they say they were ignored during the Treaty negotiations process. The Maori Party says environmental issues appear to be of higher importance to voters in Waikato-Hauraki than any other Maori electorate.
