The chair of Te Runanga o Te Rarawa says a Waitangi Tribunal ruling that Maori did not sign away sovereignty in the treaty, opens new doors for Maori development. Meanwhile, a Ngati Hine leader, Erima Henare, addressed the crown's representatives, saying they were worthy adversaries. The crew of two double-hulled ocean voyaging canoes from Hawaii will be officially welcomed on to Te Tii Marae near Waitangi tomorrow. Some of the finest contemporary Maori art can be found on display in Wellington this weekend.
