The Christchurch City Mission says Maori are suffering disproportionately in the aftermath of the earthquakes with housing shortages forcing two or three families to squeeze into one home and increased homelessness; The big Maori visitor attraction, Te Puia, has built up cash reserves of more than a million dollars; The director of a Maori anti-smoking group is praising Dame Tariana Turia for her international award for tobacco control, but says there are other politicians that also need to be acknowledged such as Hone Harawira.
