The Crown's going ahead with plans to allow companies to explore parts of Northland for metallic minerals, following feedback from iwi and members of the public; A member of the Hauraki iwi, Ngati Tamatera, says the Department of Conservation is attempting to remove him and his whanau from Maori land; Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga in Hawke's Bay, which is an arm of Ngati Kahungunu iwi it wants to have a closer relationship with the Regional Council; Learning Media has awarded a 10-thousand dollar scholarship to a Tokoroa man to help him complete his Masters thesis about Maori language identity.
