The head of Auckland's Te Whanau o Waipareira Trust, John Tamihere, says he has no problem with unregistered teachers running charter schools or kura hourua; the Waitangi Tribunal has faulted the Crown over the way it handled settlement negotiations with two tribes in the Wellington region the Maori Council has accepted an invitation from the Maori Party to talk about water rights on Monday; the Maori Select Committee inquiry into how to improve the lives of Maori children has finished hearing submissions and is now focussing on compiling a report for Parliament.
