The Minor Parties First Election Stoush

From The House , 10:35 pm on 8 February 2017

The Prime Minister’s Statement debate is the usual way to begin the year in the House, but in an election year it has extra meaning and little more ferocity as the various parties stake out their positions for the fight to come.

Today our report from Parliament focusses on the speeches from the leaders of the smaller parties - the Green Party, New Zealand First, United Future, the Maori Party, and ACT.

There was a lot of talk about housing, immigration and the economy and a few tit-for-tat attacks between Winston Peters of New Zealand First and Te Ururoa Flavell of the Maori Party.
