From The House , 10:35 pm on 3 May 2017

This year marks the 55th anniversary of the 1962 Treaty of Friendship between Samoa and New Zealand.

New Zealand captured Samoa from Germany in the First World War and administered the country until 1962 when Samoa received independence.

Together with a delegation of MPs the Speaker of Samoa’s legislative assembly Leaupepe Toleafoa Faafisi visited Wellington to meet with MPs and observe New Zealand's Parliament.

He said it’s a chance for both countries to learn from each other.
