This afternoon we present the second parts of two Radio New Zealand productions that illustrating the range of writing and performance being produced in audio drama. As well, we hear writer Gary Henderson and producer Adam Macaulay talking with Duncan Smith about audio drama and about Gary’s new play “News Bomb”. And producer Jason Te Kare talks about the development of the popular series, Skin Writing.

3:04pm ‘The Moehau’ written by Gary Henderson (Part 2 of 2)

A young woman tramper lies in a psychiatric hospital, traumatised, babbling in a language she has never learned, and refusing to open her eyes. Has she unwittingly awakened something dark, primitive and unspeakable in the mountains and ravines of the Moehau Range. Or is it that she herself has commit an unspeakable crime?  The Moehau stirs up mythological undercurrents from New Zealand’s ancient past.

3:40pm ‘Skin Writing: Aroha Mai, Aroha Atu’ aka 'Matt and Niwa' written by Briar Grace-Smith (Part 2 of 2)              

Set in a tattoo parlour.  Apprentice tattooist, Matt struggles to get Pushy and Niwa to take his mahi seriously.

Producer Jason Te Kare, talks about the development of Skin Writing – a series of short dramas by different writers all set in a tattoo studio run by Pushy Te Aratapu and his daughter, Niwa.
