Topics - Economic professors at Emory University carried out a study on more than 3,000 US men and women who had been married to a member of the opposite sex. They have concluded that the more you spend on your wedding day, and your engagement ring, the more likely you are to divorce. We've mentioned the Captain Cook Tavern in Dunedin before. It had a long heyday, a decline and demise, and now it's definitely re-opening. Construction has started on a ''more than $1 million'' revamp. Otago University Students' Association president Paul Hunt welcomed the news. ''However, we are concerned some of the draft Dunedin City Council local alcohol policies will hinder the Cook's viability, so we urge the DCC to reconsider some proposals to ensure alcohol consumption occurs in safe, regulated environments,'' he said.
