Topics northern Europeans are the world's biggest travellers, four Nordic countries in the top five. US travellers are up there, but their trips tend to be internal. Norwegians are the biggest international travellers, an average of two international trips per year. The number of women to contiune working past the age of 65 has been growing over the past 20 years - and is now expected to double in the next 20. This is research by economist Paul Callister, commissioned by the National Advisory Council on the Employment of Women. 15% of women over 65 are working and that's heading toward 30%. A permitted burn-off on Hillend Station in Wanaka sent thick plumes of smoke over the town yesterday. This smoke is said to have perplexed tourists and angered residents. The burn was authorised by the Otago Rural Fire Authority. Initially the smoke blew away from Wanaka, but the wind dropped during the day.
