Priests may be fined for not reporting abuse

Catholic priests in Australia could soon be facing a hefty fine if someone confesses child sex abuse to them and they don't report it to police.

South Australia and ACT have law changes coming that would overhaul the confessional.

We ask Dame Lyndsay Freer, media spokeswoman Catholic Diocese of Auckland, if this is an attack on the church, if it will silence people further or if it will make the church more open.
