The Small Print
First up we're speaking to a bloke who thinks modern bread is rubbish- that it's less nutritious than in the old days and is causing problems like Coeliac disease and gluten intolerance. Andrew Whitley is the founder of the Real Bread campaign in the UK. But what do the big bakers here make of his arguments?
At around 12.45pm are you concerned about cell phones and the link with brain tumours and cancer? Well the World Health Organisation is about to release the findings of a decade-long investigation called Interphone. The executive summary was leaked a few weeks back and it says there's a increased risk of brain tumours for very heavy users of mobile phones over long periods. But people are already questioning the findings and the way the research has been conducted. So will our cell phones soon have to have health warnings on them like cigarettes? We ask Peter Griffin our technology commentator
After the news at 1:10pm we're in the iPlot and this week potato planting, but you'd better watch out the psyllid's about! It's a nasty bug from North America that's seen export bans on capsicums, tomatoes, and tamarillos and could seriously damage your crop. We're looking at how home gardeners can keep the psyllid at bay.
Then at 1:30pm we're getting flour and water and a bit of free range bacteria together...it's an easy way to start a sourdough and make your own tasty bread.
And before we go at around 1:50pm we head to New York where smoking in parks and on beaches could soon be banned and car registration stickers are falling off windscreens. Dodgy glue has annoyed millions of car owners and it's become a political issue.
