First up, an early morning text message gets us digging! Welcome to the world of spam messages sent to cell phones - something we're all going to see a lot more of in the future. Some of these texts are legitimate premium rate offerings, but lots of them are illegal. We'll ask how big a problem text spam is today in New Zealand, and look at some of the ways to avoid it.
Then at 12:30pm the sharks sending texts that you really do want to get! A new real-time shark detection system relying on tracking tags and text messaging is making the beaches of Perth in Australia a safer place to swim.
At 12.45pm - the Astronaut's Cookbook. Preparing food in space is a real challenge...liquids and crumbs float around in zero gravity, heating food in an enclosed tin-can miles into space poses a fire risk, then there's all the waste management issues posed by feeding a 6-person crew a diet of refried beans and chili con carne! Greg Vogt's a veteran of the US space program who also trains astronauts. He's just written a cookbook helping you prepare space food at home.
After the news at 1:10pmBill Thompson beams in with more bits and bytes from the hi-tech world. This week the latest from the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, plus why cyber-protesters are targeting some Australian government websites.
At 1:30pm we'll head to New York where the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) movement, popularised by Farmer John, has expanded to include fish. Plus kosher food sales to the non-Jewish community are on the rise. Today, just 15 percent of kosher food purchases are made for religious reasons- so what's driving the extra demand?
Then before we go we're growing mushrooms - well, we'll visit a commercial grower in the Wairarapa. And did you know a flat mushroom is just a mature button mushroom? We didn't! Check out pics in our Mushroom Gallery.
