First up this week, using the latest digital technology to not only track a kiwi, but also see what the bird has been up to, from snoozing to snacking.
Then at around 12:40pm Peter Griffin is here with the latest tech news. This week, a new ISP offers a 'global mode' internet service; so forget about being blocked from Netflix or the BBC iPlayer, now no one needs to know you live in Aotearoa. Plus Facebook launches an app centre and the Australian government considers snooping on internet traffic. Tech Links here: Global mode ISP, Facebook Apps, web snooping
And before the 1pm news we're scraping tuna carcasses. Sushi has gone mainstream, and the supply of raw tuna into the US has expanded beyond traditional cuts to a new product called scrape. Now tuna scrape is at the centre of the latest health scare to hit the US.
At 1.15pm a great story of when frequent flyer programmes go wrong. Would you pay 350,000 US dollars for a lifetime of first class air travel? Well American Airlines offered these air passes over 30 years ago, and after being taken for millions of dollars by some pass holders it's still trying to find ways to back out of the deal
Just after 1:25pm we're making choux pastry with chef Julie Clark. So let's get some éclairs and profiteroles on the menu this weekend! Recipe here.
And before we go The Naked Scientist aka Dr Chris Smith beams in with the latest from the world of science. This week, the carnivorous plants and ants that work together to devour their prey; also radio-controlled cells...a new way to control blood sugar levels using radio signals.
