The small print

First up this week, influenza.  So why does the flu love the start of winter and do high end flu remedies actually work? We're looking at some flu facts with Dr Lynn McBain.

At 12.35pm Peter Griffin is here with the latest bits and bytes from the hi tech world. This week, news that Spotify, the online music streaming service, has opened for business here in New Zealand. We review Spotify and what it offers, plus why are people suing Facebook after its IPO last week?

Then before the 1pm news if you're facing jail time and your only experience of prison life is watching Bad Girls and The Shawshank Redemption then you might need some help from Larry Levine. He's a prison consultant advising his clients on the intricacies of incarcerated life, from sharing cells to shower time.

After the 1pm news, fungi are the second largest group of organisms on the planet after insects. They make up one-quarter of the earth's biomass. We're off on a fungal foray after speaking to Eugenia Bone. She's chair of the New York Mycological Society and the author of 'Mycophilia: Revelations from the Weird World of Mushrooms' (Rodale Press).
