First up this week, the necktie. From the cravat to the dicky bow to the Windsor; we're chatting to guy who's discovered the 85 different ways to tie one, then we're making ties in Otaki with a tie-maker that's been supplying our schools, boardrooms and rugby teams for 90 years. Finally, we hit the streets with a corporate image consultant to assess the health of the necktie today.
Then before the 1pm news Charles Arthur beams in with bits and bytes from the hi tech world. This week, new laws governing cookies for web sites in the EU plus can the new Boeing 787 be hijacked using the internet?
After the news, at 1:10pm, why do so many pre-school children stop trying new foods? John Prescott is a sensory scientist and the author of Taste Matters (Reaktion Books). The book examines why we like the foods that we do. So how far is what we eat determined by our culture, by sensory pleasure or our genetics? And how do you get junior to eat his brussel sprouts?!
At 1:35pm you'll have heard about smart power meters and smartphones...but how about the smart home? The homes of the future will use an array of sensors and monitors to check that you're healthy, safe and warm, that your power bills are low and that the veggies get watered!
And before we go, the Hollywood screenwriter who's become an online dating consultant. Matt Prager helps people navigate their way through this complex and sometimes cruel world- he'll write your profile, select your photos and then send the emails. But you'll still have to show up for that first date!
