The small print

First up this week, we head to Spain where times are tough. With more and more people unable to pay their mortgages, the locksmiths of Pamplona have said no to unlocking homes for the big banks to stop them from evicting jobless homeowners. Giles Tremlett reports from Spain.

At 12.20pm, summer's here and we all love a bit of sun…we even measure how good our holidays are by how sunny it was! We speak to GP and lecturer Dr Lynn McBain about some of the downsides to getting a tan, and what you need to keep an eye on to avoid health problems.

Melanoma Foundation of New Zealand: About melanoma

Then at 12:40pm, we'll head to Berlin where Sam Muirhead is living a year of open source - this week he's making open source perfume and tinkering with electronics.

At 12:55pm the Goedsak is a good idea from The Netherlands. If you're throwing stuff away, stuff that still works and has some value, then why not stick it in a clear plastic bag on the street so people can see what's in it and then decide whether to pick it up? It's so much less embarassing than climbing into your neighbour's skip! Maarten Heijltjes is one of Goedsak's designers.

After the 1pm news, exploring the world's biodiversity one cubic foot at a time. Nature photographer David Liittschwager puts a small stainless steel frame in all sorts of habitats and sees what passes through so he can capture it on camera. The results are amazing!

Then at about 1:25pm, naked scientist Dr Chris Smith beams in with the latest science news from around the planet. This week, evidence that behaviour can be passed on from generation to generation. Also unlocking the secrets of the flu virus; it's got a built-in alarm system to make sure you get the flu before your immune system kills it!

And before we go, we speak to a psychologist studying boredom; so what is it exactly and can you alleviate that bored feeling? John Eastwood is a clinical psychologist who's interested in boredom and its relationship to other health problems.
