In this episode of Worlds of Music Trevor features music from Aotearoa, China, Senegal as well as an in-depth interview with Iraqi-born composer and Oud virtuoso Rahim AlHaj. Twice Grammy nominated, Rahim AlHaj, who is now an American citizen, was born in Baghdad where he was imprisoned for his activism under the realm of Saddam Hussein.  His new album ‘Letters from Iraq: Oud and String Quintet” released by Smithsonian Folkways draws from the stories and experiences recounted to him by people in war-torn Iraq.
