Yosef Livne is a distinguished Israeli diplomat who began his career as a member of the Israeli delegation to the United Nations in 1979.
He's held senior diplomatic posts in Chile, Brazil and the United States, and received his first posting as Israeli Ambassador to El Salvador and Belize in 1993.
He later represented his country as Ambassador to Mexico and the Bahamas.
Prior to his posting to New Zealand Ambassador Livne was the Director for European Union Co-operation programmes.
