Rudd continues attack on Abbott

Updated at 11:17 pm on 10 August 2010

Australia's former prime minister Kevin Rudd has again attacked Liberal Party leader Tony Abbott as he campaigns for the re-election of the Labor Government.

Mr Rudd was visiting a school in the south Brisbane electorate of Moreton on Tuesday when he made the comments, Radio New Zealand's political editor reports.

Mr Rudd, on just his second public campaign outing since his meeting with his successor Julia Gillard at the weekend, has questioned Mr Abbott's financial competence.

It has become a constant theme for Labor as it seeks to undermine Mr Abbott's claim to be the next prime minister.

However, Mr Rudd made no mention of Ms Gillard during the visit.

While the two appear to have put to one side the open hostility between them, they are not yet singing one another's praises.

The one thing they do agree on is they do not want Mr Abbott to win the election.
