Four separate police forces in Britain are now known to be looking into allegations of child sexual abuse involving the late former prime minister Sir Edward Heath.

Fresh allegations have emerged about him, with several people responding to appeals for information.

The police on the Channel Island of Jersey have confirmed he features in its ongoing investigation into allegations.

Sir Edward, who died in 2005, is also believed to be in the scope of Operation Midland, a sweeping inquiry into historical paedophile allegations involving establishment figures.
