Evolve Group challenged to improve board diversity

The chair of Evolve Education Group says the early childhood education company is moving to increase the diversity of its board to better reflect the community it serves.

The company was challenged by the Shareholders' Association at its first-ever annual meeting in Auckland last week to increase the diversity of the board - not just by gender but to reflect a diversity of race and culture too.

The four-member board is dominated by men, though its chair is Norah Barlow.

Ms Barlow said the issue was top of mind for the board, although all directors must also have the right mix of skills and experience to take a seat at the table.
