Fire investigators are examining an Invercargill flat that was damaged in a fire overnight.
The fire service said it was called to the flat in a block on Tweed St just after midnight.
At first there was concern that someone could be in the flat, but it was found to be unoccupied.
The fire service said the blaze could be suspicious.
