Hawke's Bay river levels dropping

4:28 pm on 24 September 2015

River levels in Hawke's Bay are expected to drop this afternoon after they were pushed up by heavy rain.

Hawke's Bay Regional Council said the Tukituki River had peaked at 5 metres - 3 metres above normal.

In the past 24 hours, up to 90 mms has fallen in central Hawke's Bay, causing surface flooding and slips, but the worst of the heavy rain and flooding appears to be over.
