Passenger train Northern Explorer is continuing its journey to Wellington this afternoon, after hitting a stray cow on the tracks, just south of Otorohanga this morning.
Kiwirail said none of the 170 passengers and crew on board were injured in the incident but there were delays as staff cleared the site and assessed the train for any damage.
