The Fiji government is making scouting compulsory for older primary school children.
The Minister for Education Mahendra Reddy made the announcement at a scouting rally at the weekend.
He said scouting promoted good citizenry and independence, so all Year 6 and 8 students would be made to join the movement from next year.
