The Fire Service has evacuated several rural homes in North Otago as an uncontained plantation fire, fanned by strong winds, continues to burn.
The fire on Stoneburn Road, a rural area between Palmertson and Ranfurly, and spread over 30 to 40 hectares area of scrub and tussock.
The evacuation is a precaution at this stage and a helicopter is to assess the situation.
