Member's Bills drawn at Parliament

5:47 pm on 15 October 2015

Three of the four member's bills drawn from the ballot at Parliament today are in the name of Labour MPs.

The Healthy Homes Amendment Bill - which is being promoted by Labour leader Andrew Little - changes the Tenancy Act so that every rental home has to meet minimum standards of heating and insulation.

David Cunliffe's Education Amendment Bill would ensure tertiary students are democratically represented in the governing of their institutions.

And the Electricity Transparency Bill, in the name of David Shearer, requires electricity companies to itemise the different components of their bills to customers.

The fourth bill, proposed by the National MP Jian Yang, would stop child sex offenders from changing their names.
