Council staff are trying to track down the families of people buried in a south Auckland graveyard, after a maintanence truck accidentally damaged a number of headstones.
Five headstones at the Manukau Memorial Gardens were accidentally damaged when the truck was undertaking regular grounds work.
Staff say they deeply regret the incident and are anxious to find relatives so they can offer a formal apology, and arrange for the headstones to be restored as soon as possible.
