A New Zealand army team has won gold at an international military event.

The Cambrian Patrol is a continuous 36-hour, long-range patrol exercise over 55km in the Cambrian mountains of Wales.

The annual event designed to be a test of leadership, fieldcraft, discipline and physical and mental robustness.

The Defence Force says of the 70 teams that completed the course, only three won gold, so it was an outstanding achievement by the New Zealanders.
