An Armed Offenders Squad (AOS) operation outside a house in the Lower Hutt suburb of Stokes Valley earlier today has been called off.
Officers had been surrounding a property on Chittick Street but found no-one inside and no weapons were discovered.
Detectives are speaking to the people who called police to the house.
They said the callout was not connected to the hunt for a gunman being sought following a shooting in the suburb of Taita overnight, which left a man with serious injuries.
