The Dunedin City Council's animal services team are keen to find the owner of a dog that had to be restrained after it attacked a working guide dog in South Dunedin.

Senior animal services officer Peter Hanlin believed the dog was wandering without its owner at the time.

He said it was a vicious attack and they wanted to speak with the dog's owner as soon as possible.
