Diamond shop car crash not ramraid - police

12:39 pm on 25 November 2015

Staff at an Auckland diamond shop say they will be reviewing footage of a car crashing into the shop window to try to find out what happened.

A spokeswoman for Diamonds on Richmond said the car crashed into a part of the shop front which was being renovated, but did not know whether it was an accident, or a ramraid.

Two people in the car suffered injuries in the crash.

Two cars crashed, at least one of them into the diamond shop, rupturing a gas main and sending electricity arcing over the suburban street on Richmond Road in Grey Lynn early this morning.

Three fire crews, police and ambulance were called to the scene about 1.30am.

Police do not believe the shop was ramraided.
