Two senior Christchurch City Council managers resign

9:15 pm on 2 December 2015

Two senior Christchurch City Council managers whose roles were cut in a recent restructuring have announced they're leaving the council.

Last month the council confirmed 46 jobs were going.

The role of chief operating officer, held by Jane Parfitt, was among those axed and yesterday she announced she would not reapply for another job with the council.

Ms Parfitt became acting chief executive in 2013, when the controversial Tony Marryatt left abruptly, and remained there for 11 months as the new mayor and councillors settled in.

The council's chief planning officer, Michael Theelen, whose role has also been disestablished, also announced his resignation yesterday.
