NZ dollar jumps on US jobs report

12:39 pm on 5 December 2015

The New Zealand dollar jumped more than a cent against the US dollar overnight after the American economy created more jobs than expected last month.

The positive news from the US sent the Kiwi to just over 68 US cents.

It has now eased back a little, trading at around 67.6 US cents, but still up from yesterday afternoon.

Analysts are now expecting the United States Federal Reserve to raise interest rates later in the month.
