A man remains in hospital in a serious condition after he was attacked by a group on a Porirua street.
The 47-year-old man, and his younger brother, were attacked on Mungavin Avenue in the early hours of Sunday, while walking home from a Christmas party.
The younger brother has since been released from hospital, but a spokesperson for Wellington Hospital confirmed the elder remained in a serious condition in the intensive care unit.
He earlier had to undergo surgery to remove a clot on his brain.
The police are investigating and last night carried out a detailed search of the scene.
