A four-year-old boy remains in a stable condition in hospital after a car crash which closed State Highway 16 northwest of Auckland yesterday.
Two cars crashed near the end of the north-western motorway near Hobsonville.
Police said three children were in the back of a car as it pulled out of a driveway and was hit by another car.
The four-year-old child was taken to Starship Hospital with critical injuries.
The two other children were treated for moderate injuries and have now been released.
