Employers group to fight Auckland transport levy proposal

The Employers and Manufacturers Association has pledged to fight what it calls a "disgusting" proposal for Auckland businesses to pick up a bigger proportion of the city's transport levy.

The plan is one of a number put forward by the Auckland Council in its proposed 2016 budget and would lessen the load on residential ratepayers.

Employers and Manufacturers' Association chief executive Kim Campbell said the move would be a disgusting U-turn by the council that would mean some businesses had to pay thousands of dollars.
