A two-year-old Hastings boy is in hospital after being run over outside his house in Flaxmere.
He was hit by a van outside his Bristol Place house just after 9am today, fracturing his skull and pelvis.
The police believe the boy was hit by the front of the van and then went underneath it.
His parents took him to a local doctor but he was immediately sent to hospital from there.
Officers have identified the van driver, who is being interviewed this afternoon.
