The Otaki Gorge Road on the Kapiti Coast has been declared unsafe and closed indefinitely.
The Kapiti Coast District Council said it was closed to both traffic and pedestrians, meaning there was no access to the popular Otaki Forks area and Tararua Forest Park.
Fresh, large cracks 300m above the road were found while debris from previous slips was being cleared, indicating the whole hillside could be slipping.
