Rain in Nelson delays cricket

11:42 am on 2 January 2016

It's been raining steadily in Nelson this morning meaning the start of today's fourth one-day cricket international between the Black Caps and Sri Lanka has been delayed.

The game was scheduled to start at 11am, but drizzle is still falling at Saxton Oval.

The covers are still on the pitch, and look set to remain there for some time.

The wet weather is forecast through to at least Sunday morning, meaning today's game could well be abandoned.

The Black Caps hold a 2-1 lead in the five-match series, meaning if today's contest is washed out, they'll take an unassailable lead into Tuesday's final match in Mt Maunganui.
